Social Media Webinar for teen support

This informative webinar examined the use of social media and support networks for teens living with chronic illness.  Presenter Allison Sohanlal, CLS provided in-depth discussion of four prominent themes, connecting research to practice and real life experience to discuss current issues in the use of online support networks. Co-facilitator Katrina Edwards, a young adult living with a Mitochondrial Complex I and IV, also shared her experience using social media.  Katrina has been a pediatric patient at The Hospital for Sick Children for over 19 years, and now has transitioned over to adult care.  As a teen who uses UPOPOLIS, Katrina now serves as a Volunteer Mentor for the social networking site. In this role, she is very active in supporting kids and teens through their medical journeys.
